ULTIMATE COLOMBIA TOUR

Packed with the best of Colombia!

The tour name says it all! We begin our journey in the salsa capital of the world and mingle with the locals as we explore the lively city of Cali. Traveling deep into the coffee region of Salento and getting lost in the finest cups of coffee around. We venture just outside of Salento to take in the astonishing Valle de Cocora, home of the world’s largest wax palms! The next stop is Medellin, known as the city of eternal spring. Climb the 740 steps to the top of “The Rock” in the colorful pueblo of Guatape. Then soak up the countryside views while venturing north into the tropical, colonial city of Cartagena. We will meet with indigenous tribes of Taganga and explore where the forest meets the ocean before you make your way into Tayrona National Park! Catch some waves and learn how to surf in Costeño. After refreshing in the port town of Santa Marta, venture deep into Minca for hiking, waterfalls and massive hammocks overlooking breathtaking views to wrap up your adventure!

Cali:
Meet your group at one of the best hostels in Cali before taking it to the streets. Cali is known for its salsa and sense of authentic Colombian culture. The streets are lined with shops, art galleries, salsa clubs, public parks and more than enough street food vendors. Don’t forget to check out the plazas, shopping neighborhoods and clubs to practice Spanish with the locals!

Salento:
Located high in the coffee region of central Colombia, Salento is a small town with a lot to offer. Here you can lose track of time wandering the streets or taking in the rich history of the coffee industry and learn the process behind every cup of Colombian gold. The Local coffee farms are breathtaking and are accessible via jeep in the taxi-less town! You can relax, grab brunch, check out the shops, and play tejo; or take the extreme route with downhill mountain biking on the rocky paths that trace the mountainsides! Just outside of Salento, Valle de Cocora is a valley known for having the tallest palms in the world! Keep your eyes to the sky as you wander through the 200 feet/60 Meter wax palms before stopping off at the Santa Rosa Hot Springs while en route to Medellin..

Salento/Medellin:
After we dry off from the hot springs and hit the road we will find ourselves in the heart of Colombia, Medellin. The climate of Medellin is said to be perfect. The city is home to over 40,000 different plant species, earning the nickname “The City of Eternal Spring.” Among the lush landscapes, the largest number of Orchids in the world including 1,542 that can only be found in Colombia populate the natural areas of Medellin! We have plenty of options on how to spend our days in Medellin whether you prefer museums, riding the metro cable, hiking through the national park, visiting the botanical gardens or exploring downtown! This city has a lot of history and is filled with a number of ways to experience what Medellin has to offer!

Salento/Medellin:
Today begins with an early morning drive through the country’s farms and valleys until we arrive at the beautiful pueblo of Guatape! Just two hours out of Medellin, the pueblo of Guatape is located in the vast and incredible man-made Peñol-Guatapé Reservoir. We’ll make our way up the 740 steps to the top of “The Rock” for a one-of-a-kind view of the bubbling terrain that remains in the reservoir! Refresh with some of Colombia’s best coffee while wandering amidst the embellished architecture and cobblestone streets.

Medellin:
Today is our last day in Medellin before we depart on an overnight bus to Cartagena. We’ll take off on a tour of one of the most colorful communities on the planet, Comuna trece or Community 13. This neighborhood was once rated the most dangerous neighborhood in the world. Now, through the influence of symbolic art, the community is a peaceful place for people to visit and witness the change first hand. After the tour we’ll have free time to explore the city and it’s hotspots before regrouping for food, drinks then depart for Cartagena!

Cartagena:
After an early arrival, hostel check-in and a quick breakfast, we dive head first into the colonial town of Cartagena. Stroll through the colorful and photogenic streets of the fortress before we take off to the vibrant waters of Playa Azul for some well earned beach time! Bring sunscreen, your favorite swimsuit and explore a little slice of the Caribbean before heading back to the mainland!

Cartagena/Taganga:
Our next stop is the local fishing village of Taganga. Take some time to relax by the pool or at the nearby beach, and go out to one of the many restaurants for some grub! On our second day, we will venture into the rainforest with the local tribe and go tubing down the Rio Don Diego all the way to the Caribbean Sea! Take some time to regroup, explore the rugged streets and stop by the museums before continuing on to Costeño Beach!

Taganga/Tayrona/Costeño:
Haven’t had enough beach time? Well, here you go! Not only are we going to get more sand on our feet, we’re also going to hike through Tayrona National Park where the forest meets the sea and the wildlife is as colorful as it is playful! After we move on from the fishing village of Taganga and the lush landscapes of Tayrona, we will catch more rays in Costeño. Bring the swimsuits, sunscreen, plenty of water and maybe watch a few introductory surf lessons before we go!

Santa Marta/Minca:
This may be the last stretch, but there is still plenty of time to rack up more Colombian experiences! Wander down the port town streets of Santa Marta before venturing off to the mountain village of Minca! We will explore the town, take a hike to one of the many waterfalls and hang out on the well known hammocks that come with amazing views!

Santa Marta:
Touching back in Santa Marta for the last day is a great time to take in more mist from the Caribbean Sea while you put future travels plans into place. There is always time to create more memories with your new travel buds, so soak up the sun and enjoy your last day on the tour!
